Please check again:
1st, your site Editor role capabilities list (on case you lost someone), compare it with WP original at other site or with this article http://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities.
2nd, assign Editor role to some other test user and try to see what links you see under administrator's post.
If it doesn't help, try to deactivate all your plugins, one by one. May be one of them block your editor work.

Hi,

I confirm that user with 'Editor' role can edit posts created by user with 'Administrator' role.
I do not see the reason of your problem to this moment.
Please let me know, is your WordPress configured as multi-site one?

Hi,

new created blog get unchanged roles from WordPress core code. I will search if it's possible to overwrite them with roles set from the root blog. If Yes, I will add such option to the new plugin version.
Thanks for the idea for further plugin development.

Hi,

Re User Role Editor

I am using Wordpress 3.1.3 multisite.
I unchecked manage_categories for editors, applied to all sites, because I don't want new blogs to add new categories to the ones that I already created, however new blogs can still edit categories.
I tried to create a new user level Administrator but the system said that was not allowed.
How do I restrict new blogs from changing categories?

Thx

Hi

Thanks for the quick response, I have tried to assign Editor role, but same thing happened, Editor user also can't edit Admin post, from what I read on the internet, Editor role user should be able to edit Admin post right?

My wordpress version is 3.0.4, should I upgrade to version 3.1.3 ?

This is the screenshot of the role http://i55.tinypic.com/237i3q.png

(Editor can delete others post, so I created co-editor who only can edit and publish post but not delete the post)

Hello,

Why not to assign that user 'Editor' role? With this role user can edit post made by user with "Administrator" role.
Did you create new "co-editor" role or assign new capabilities to the user directly with version 3.1 beta?
Please send the list of capabilities you included to the role or better show the screenshot of role you created. I will check at my test environment.

Hi

I have assigned capabilities such as "edit others post" (and other capabilites exactly the same with editor role capabilites) to a user let's say co-editor, but this user still can't edit Admin post, only able to "Trash | View | Purge From Page Cache" (options available under post title)

How to fix this problem? I want this user to be able to edit Admin Post but not to delete Admin Post.

I'm not sure if this is the cause, but please note that my wordpress has exec-php plugin installed.

they might have options to delete their settings when uninstalling but I deactivated them quickly and have meanwhile deleted them so its a hassle to install them again just to remove their caps.

thanks for the capability option you are considering adding.
the problem with the role was that there seems to have been a bug:

my admin account was showing both as an administrator role and as the other role.
once I re-saved it as an administrator and now it doesn't show in the other role anymore and I managed to delete that role.

can`t wait for the delete capabilities options as I tested around 4-5 different webshop plugins and they left me with about 20 capabilities I don't need anymore..

Yes, it will be useful addition: add/remove custom (not WordPress built-in) capability. I will add such functionality.
I'm not clear about custom roles. If some plugin added it to the WP roles list URE plugin can remove it. Do you see such role in the drop-down roles list? The only reason why URE doesn't allow you to delete such role is that it is assigned to some user. Please check and let me know.
