Dear Valdimir,

I have a question about the Appearance menu and it's subcategories.

I need and end user that I have setup in 'User Role Editor' to be able to edit the 'Menus' category but not widgets, themes, custom theme options (themes.php?page=theme_options) and custom colour options (custom themes.php?page=functions.php).

I have tried a few settings and also tried using the 'Add New Capability' option but can't seem to get it to work, I have also had a look through the links below but can't work out how to edit the code to the relevant part in the functions.php file.

http://www.shinephp.com/how-to-block-wordpress-admin-menu-item/

Hi,

I am hoping you'll be able to help.

My client wants access to the YOAST SEO plugin options, I can allow him to see this if I tick the manage options button but with that selected he can see all the tools and settings options. Is there a way to hide the tools, and possibly setting options. I have tried all different combinations of options but can't quite figure it out?

I am running a multi-site.

Kind regards,

S2Member proved to complex for my needs so I removed it. However even though all S2 roles were deleted manually from URE they still appear in the list of roles and capabilities. I tried completely removing any trace of S2 using legacy file manager in Cpanel and uninstalling URE entirely and reinstalling it but the S2 access levels remain. Any suggestions?

Hi

I have assigned capabilities such as "edit others post" (and other capabilites exactly the same with editor role capabilites) to a user let's say co-editor, but this user still can't edit Admin post, only able to "Trash | View | Purge From Page Cache" (options available under post title)

How to fix this problem? I want this user to be able to edit Admin Post but not to delete Admin Post.

I'm not sure if this is the cause, but please note that my wordpress has exec-php plugin installed.

Can URE priv a contributor user for access to the WP-Admin Page which would just show USERS, ALL USERS, NEW USER and YOUR PROFILE? In other words, I want to allow a particular contributor level user to access the WP-Admin page, but restrict this user to a specific set of choices on that page, with none other showing or at least not active? Note that I'm trying to set privs for WP-Admin access, and NOT to specific pages. Can URE do that? If not,is there a plug-in that does manage user access to portions of the WP-Admin page?

I want the user to go to a specific page after log in and not to the dashboard, is there a snippet of code or can you tell me what file to edit to accopmlish this? I created a role that needs permission to edit their own profile and nothing else, it works with another plug in for information display. (this is working excellent) But when this custom user logs in it takes them to the dashboard and I need them to go to a specific page on the site.

Hi,

I want to give people with editor accounts the ability to update the inbuilt wordpress custom menus. When I use the plugin, sure enough the option appears, but when they hit "save menu" the page refreshes and their changes don't save.

I'm wondering if this might be a bug with the custom menus?

Hi Guys!

I have a little problem. I have a wordpress blog. Many people are commenting on my blog, which is good. But sometimes the tone gets a little rude.

The problem is, i don't have the time to filter all comments and delete inappropriate comments. I would like to name one of my trusted readers as a "Comment Mod" and give him the rights to delete and edit comments under my posts.

So I installed "User Role Editor" and created a new role with the checkbox "Moderate Comments" checked.

These are my settings (Screenshot):
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/2342/screenshotze.png

But the test user within this group still can't edit any comments. He can login to the backend and thats all. Did I miss an important checkbox? Whats is going wrong?

Thanks for your help...

first of all, thanks for this great plugin :)

as your plugin has MS support, wouldn't you consider adding the same functionality as this other plugin?

Now, I want to create a new capability so that users can access a certain option in a plugin. Is that even possible?

In the role options, the plugin is there and if I select users to add access to that plugin they can do whatever they want in the plugin, even delet thing, and that is not what I want.

I´m using the plugin WP-Football and I just want them to have access only to the results part, so they can update the results by themselves, making the process of tournaments almost automatic…

Hi everyone, I need some help with my WP multi-site website.
I try to explain my situation: I installed the plugin and activated it, then I created a custom role intended to suite the needs of my main blog.
I do not applied custom roles to all sites 'cause I need this custom role only for the main site (http://i54.tinypic.com/j59owh.png) and I set this custom role as default user rol for new users (http://i54.tinypic.com/x5cyl0.png).

Now: when an user sign up on my site he is registered as user of the whole network (http://i52.tinypic.com/6paslx.png) and it is not automatically added as a user on the main blog.
I have to manually check for new users everyday by going to /wp-admin/network, copy the e-mail of the new user then going back to /wp-admin and add this new user as user of the main blog chosing the cutom role.

It is not so easy so I'm searching for a solution.
I found this http://goo.gl/rgzZo but it doesn't work for custom role even if I change "subscriber" to the name of my custom role (both trying first letter as lowercase and uppercase).

Can you please help me? Any idea?
Thank you in advance

Greetings. I currently have on my wp (wordpress) website a role plugin that may not be working correctly.

I had my website recently rebuilt using WP. I am trying to use Wishlist Member (WL) and Simple:Press forums (SP). All 3 (wp, WL and SP are all new to me). I am not a coder or a techie so I need things as simple and easy to understand as possible.

I have several different memberships defined within WL. One is a free membership (level 1) others are paid (levels 2 and 3). Members in a higher membership can see and access content in the lower memberships (level 2 and 1). Level 1 or 2 can not see (or get to) content in the higher levels unless they pay for an upgrade or I manually upgrade them in WL.

I have corresponding forums for each membership level in SP. On the defined forums I want the same member level access. I do not want members in forum level 1 to access level 2 or 3s forums. Or level 1 and 2 to have access to level 3 forums. Level 3 should be able to see and use its own as well as level 2 and 1 forums. Level 2 should be able to use its own as well see and use level 1 forum as well.

My test membership members signed up okay in WL but when they try to access the membership level forums on SP some test members can see their membership forum but not lower ones, some see other membership forums they should not be seeing.

So far WL support says there product is working correctly. SP looks like it is working correctly. On the SP forums it is mentioned the 2 do work good together. So this leads me to think the problem is with my role plugin not working correctly.

My question is - Will your "User Role Editor" plugin work between WL and SP so my membership members will be granted access to the different forums that correspond to the different membership levels they are authorized for in my WL membership management software?

Another question I have about your plug in. I noticed on the plugins page http://www.shinephp.com/user-role-editor-wordpress-plugin/#faq the main form screenshot shows in the center column options, level_0 to level_9. What are these defining? Because just looking at the screenshot I would not have any idea of what I would be authorizing if I checked those boxes.

Thank you for your time,
Bryan

Hi Vladimir,

Great plugin!

Quick question: I have a custom post type called attraction that I'd like to be able to use to assign delete, add, and edit capabilities to user roles. Is this possible to do with your plugin? Btw, I'm using the default categories with this post type.

Cheers,

Hi, I just installed your plugin, and I'd like to give some permissions to Contributor. Which ones do I need to check so that a Contributor can login? Right now, the Contributor tries logging in, but keeps getting an error message that says, "You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page."

Can you help?

Thanks!

HI

I have installed wordpress with multisite and buddypress on main site.

i also installed your Role Editor plugin on main site (it is not network activated)

What i want
1. one main site where i will create new roles and capabilities and able to change custom role's capabilities

2. I need some sites with a "basic" role that cant add new pages only posts

3. I need some sites with medium and some site with advance role.

here is problem
Plugin work perfect and i created three role and assign the capilities and apply on all blogs.

but when i create new site i assign custom role "basic" but the user cant login to the site and display this message "You don’t have permission to view this site. Please contact the system administrator."

when i go back to main site and apply on all sites then the same user can login to the site.

i am using this code to assign role

function ds_new_user_meta($blog_id, $user_id) {
add_user_to_blog($blog_id, $user_id, 'basic' );
}
add_action( 'wpmu_new_blog', 'ds_new_user_meta', 10, 2 );

but i thing the capabilities and roles do not created in new site or there is some other problem

Dear Valdimir,
Thanks for the very useful plugin.
I have used User Role Editor for creating a quick proof of concept for an idea.

I wanted to know if and how I can delete the default roles of Wordpress.
Eg. Subscriber, Editor, Publisher etc (all except administrator)

Thanks,

Hi,

Re User Role Editor

I am using Wordpress 3.1.3 multisite.
I unchecked manage_categories for editors, applied to all sites, because I don't want new blogs to add new categories to the ones that I already created, however new blogs can still edit categories.
I tried to create a new user level Administrator but the system said that was not allowed.
How do I restrict new blogs from changing categories?

Thx
